☆ Personality

Longya is described on his official profile as "a clear-headed and thoughtful young man who is highly anticipated". According to his official backstory, he is currently studying in university and will inherit the family business after graduation— as a result, many key artworks of him depict him as studious and involve him working on a laptop. Though not regarded as the center of VSINGER (who would be Tianyi), he is seen as its leader, and is the most responsible and mature member of the group.

Longya is the older brother of fellow VSINGER character Yuezheng Ling. While Ling often sees her older brother as annoying and teases him, Longya loves Ling very much and dotes on her often, and is extremely protective of her. For a particular birthday celebration post, Longya wished Ling a happy birthday by posting a picture of him holding her as a baby.

He is a drummer with a very passionate playing style, and is nicknamed the "Drum Destroyer".

☆ Brief History

In 2011, a contest under the name VOCALOID CHINA PROJECT was held to determine the design of China’s first VOCALOID. Chinese VOCALOID fans could submit their own designs to be chosen by Shanghai Henian— the first place winner would become a VOCALOID while the runner ups would be their promotional companions.

A design for a man named Yayin, drawn by aya, was one of the runner up winners of the contest. Illustrator ideolo was brought in to refine the designs of all the winners, and Yayin's name was changed to Yuezheng Longya along with some design tweaks. Notably, he and Ling were not conceptualized as siblings, and retroactively became them while ideolo and Shanghai Henian were refining them after the contest ended. Promotion soon began for the first place design, Luo Tianyi, with Longya featured as a supporting character.

In 2015, it was announced that Longya would become a VOCALOID, but the Weibo post containing his announcement needed to have a total of 100,000 forwards by August 30. This was to make sure that Longya not only had fans, but to spread awareness of his character. The goal was reached on August 8. Shortly after this, Shanghai Henian asked who his voice provider should be and opened up suggestions to the public. It was announced in October 2015 that Zhang Jie would provide Longya's singing voice, along with more character details mentioned in his Personality section.

Longya received an updated design for his VOCALOID4 voicebank from ideolo, giving him long sleeves and changing details of his outfit in minor ways. He would make his first in-person debut at the Melody Across the Stars event in late 2016, and release for VOCALOID4 in summer 2017.

Pre-debut, Longya was greatly overshadowed by the other girl characters of VSINGER. After his VOCALOID4 voicebank released, he gained sizeable popularity, and is currently the third most followed VSINGER character on Weibo.

Ling and Longya are the first VOCALOID duo who are confirmed to be brother and sister.

Though Longya's mascot Bei Chen is a dragon, Longya has been heavily associated with pandas by fans due to his black and white hair. Shanghai Henian has acknowledged this multiple times in key artwork that depicts him with pandas, as well as having his signature include a doodle of a panda and a bamboo shoot.

The VOCALOID CHINA PROJECT animations depict Longya with fully black hair at some points, implying that either Longya bleaches his hair or wears a wig when performing. However, there also exists artwork where Longya is depicted as a child and has a head of half-black half-white hair. This inconsistency will probably never be addressed, so lock in your guesses as to Longya's true hair situation below.
