☆ Personality

Qingxian is described on her official profile as “a cold beauty who always exudes a mysterious atmosphere, but in fact, due to her physical condition, she is in a state of low blood pressure most of the time, so her reactions are often slow”.

Her character is very easy-going and calm, most likely because of her airheadedness, and many relate her to cats for this reason— even in official media, a cat briefly cuddles up to Qingxian in the VOCALOID CHINA PROJECT animations and she dressed as a cat for VSINGER LIVE 2020. She likes ancient books and poems, as well as traditional Chinese culture.

Other characters in VSINGER, as well as fans, call her "Mo-jie", meaning "Big sis Mo".

☆ Brief History

In 2011, a contest under the name VOCALOID CHINA PROJECT was held to determine the design of China’s first VOCALOID. Chinese VOCALOID fans could submit their own designs to be chosen by Shanghai Henian— the first place winner would become a VOCALOID while the runner ups would be their promotional companions.

A design for a girl named Chou, drawn by HANS, was chosen as a runner up design. This design received noticeable backlash from fans, with some calling it a pick made out of pity. It was later discovered that the entry directly traced a piece of Touhou fanart. When it came time for illustrator ideolo to tweak the designs of the winners, Chou received the most dramatic design changes of the entire group, possibly to distance her from this controversy. Her name was also changed to be less Japanese sounding. Promotion soon began for the first place design, Luo Tianyi, with Qingxian featured as a supporting character.

In late 2016, Qingxian and fellow VSINGER character Zhiyu Moke were confirmed to be receiving VOCALOID voicebanks. They would both make their debut at VSINGER LIVE 2017 performing their respective demo songs. The two of them received redesigns for their VOCALOID4 voices by VSINGER’s key artist at the time, TID, who also designed the key artwork for Tianyi V4 and Tianyi V4 JP. Qingxian’s outfit became more slimming and detail heavy, and the design of the flower in her hair changed. An official MMD model of this design, made by Sour, was distributed by Shanghai Henian for her birthday in May 2018.

Moke and Qingxian were the last releases for the VOCALOID4 engine in August 2018, as while preorders for their voices were still ongoing, YAMAHA unceremoniously released VOCALOID5 on July 12th.

Due to receiving her voicebank late into the VSINGER timeline, Qingxian is less popular than her counterparts. Some fans have said her VOCALOID4 voicebank that released in 2018 was not of good quality and hard to work with, and so her ACE Studio voicebank was highly anticipated.
