VSINGER is a collective of Mandarin Chinese virtual singers, produced by the company Shanghai Henian. It was first developed with five characters— Luo Tianyi, Yuezheng Ling, Yuezheng Longya, Mo Qingxian, and Zhiyu Moke— in 2012. In 2013, a new character, Yanhe, was added to the group.VSINGER got their start on VOCALOID, with releases for iterations 3 through 5 of the engine. On the VOCALOID engine, they can only sing in Chinese, with the exception of Tianyi, who received a Japanese voicebank for VOCALOID4. They have recently all received ACE Studio voicebanks and can sing in Japanese, Chinese, and English on said engine.
VSINGER has changed their name a few times over the years, so some logos/copyright names on images throughout this webpage may be inconsistent. It began as VOCALOID CHINA, changed its name to VOCANESE, and eventually settled on VSINGER.
VOCALOID is a voice synthesis software developed by YAMAHA, first released in 2003. Real singers (also called voice providers) record a large number of samples that are bundled together into one “voicebank” and distributed and sold by their development companies. You can use these voicebanks in the program to have virtual singers perform for you in a number of languages.Over the years, a number of different voice synthesizer programs have been created. Technology has also advanced far enough that using artifical intelligence, voice synthesizers can sing in a multitude of languages that their voice providers may not be able to speak. It's important to note that the use of AI in these cases is not unethical, as voice providers are paid properly for their work and these voicebanks are made with their consent.
Due to international barriers making it difficult to keep up with VSINGER from outside of China, plus wikia websites becoming harder to navigate and less frequently updated, this webpage was created to help English-speakers learn about the group’s characters, history, and more. Our goal is to help create international fans of VSINGER, and to keep this webpage updated with new information as it comes out.
If you like learning by reading, check out every character’s individual page to read up on their personality and history. If you know of the characters already and are more curious about their music, check out one of their concerts! These are a great way to learn of songs both new and old, and they have great production value. VSINGER LIVE 2017 and/or VSINGER LIVE 2020 are great to start!
